Perry: Support nuclear power to boost national security
Energy Secretary Rick Perry, who asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission last month to pass a rule that supports nuclear and coal power plants, told a congressional hearing that ignoring the nuclear energy industry would hurt national security, as the US would likely see its power diminished when it comes to addressing nuclear proliferation. “If we lose our supply chain, if we lose our intellectual chain of supply of bright scientists because we basically pushed the nuclear industry back, then we’re going to lose our role as a leader when it comes to nuclear energy in the world,” Perry said.
