Nuclear Energy Is It Scary – Yes or No? ~ March 2025

The U.S. Nuclear Energy segment typically uses natural draft conical-shaped Cool Tower images to represent nuclear energy. The public’s reaction likely is fear, especially when condensate steam leaves the top opening some 400 ft. above grade. It’s most likely the uninformed public thinks that inert tower is the Power Reactor. The industry should not confuse the public, especially when the industry needs high levels of backing by the public. Executives, Nuclear Engineers, and Marketing need to project the proper images (not cooling towers) to ensure the public of the designed safety, environmental, and management system controls in nuclear power plants. Nuclear isn’t scary once you understand the inherent safeguards.
